Jill Bourne oversees the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library (in partnership with SJSU) and 23 branch libraries. Under her leadership, the San Jose Public Library was the first library to receive both the Gale/Library Journal Library of the Year Award and the Institute of Museum and Library Services National Medal. Jill’s vision is to enrich lives by fostering lifelong learning and ensuring that every member of the community has access to a vast array of ideas and information. Jill previously served as the Deputy City Librarian in San Francisco for 7 years and as Assistant Director for Public Services at the Seattle Public Library for 6 years. A resident of San Jose, Bourne holds a BA from New York University and a MLIS from the University of Washington.
